The Historic Phillips 66 Service Station was built in 1929 and is on the National Register of Historic Places.  Several years ago, the Baxter Springs Heritage Center & Museum purchased the property, which has undergone restoration to return the building to its original appearance.  It now serves as the Route 66 Visitors' Center.

Financial and other assistance has come from multiple private sources, as well as grants from the National Park Service and the Kansas Humanities Council.  Contact the Station's Director, Carolyn Pendleton, at 620-856-2066 (or email at kansas_66_station @yahoo.com) if you are interested in donating your time and talents.
